# Numerology

Numerology is a fascinating subject, and once you have an understanding of the basics; it can be used in many areas of your life. After a while you find yourself calculating numbers of loved ones birth dates, house numbers, and even number plates. You don’t have to be Einstein, or a mathematician to be able to use numerology, it can be as simple or as in-depth as you wish.

We are going to give you a simple run down of the basics, a beginner’s guide if you like. We like to keep things simple here at Star Tarot.

After doing some research on this subject, we have found that Numerology began with the rather clever chap, Pythagorus. He, and other philosophers of the time believed that because mathematical concepts were more "practical" (easier to regulate and classify) than physical ones, they were more reliable. St. Augustine of Hippo (A.D. 354–430) has said, Numbers are the Universal language offered by gods to humans as confirmation of the truth. He believed, like Pythagoras, that everything had numerical relationships and it was up to the individual to discover the secrets of these relationships, or have them channelled by spirit.

Ok, so enough of the history, let’s get down to actually learning how to use this wonderful tool, we promise to keep things easy.

CALCULATIONS
Regardless if you’re doing names, or dates to calculate numbers, you will need to use the letter to number correlation chart, like the one below.

123456789
ABCDEFGHI
JKLMNOPQR
STUVWXYZ

You’ll use the above table when calculating a birth name. Each calculation will look something like this:

Stella Rose Star

S = 1          R = 9          S = 1
T = 2          O = 6         T = 2
E = 5          S = 1          A = 1
L = 3          E = 5          R = 9
L = 3
A = 1

Stella (1+2+5+3+3+1) = 15 (two digit rule) 1+5 = 15 = 1+5 = 6

Rose (9+6+1+5) = 21 (two digit rule) 2+1 = 3

Star (1+2+1+9) = (two digit rule) 1+3 = 4

Vibration 4 = 6 (First) + 3 (Middle) + 4 (Last) = 13 (Two digit rule) 1+3= 4
